Working as part of a dynamic and caring development team, a Major Gift Officer for the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation will use the highest professional and ethical standards to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and planned gifts that support the Foundation s initiatives. The Major Gift Officer must have a passion for promoting the dignity and wellness of older adults and the ability to build authentic, long-term relationships with the community and key stakeholders. This will be done in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as Foundation board-approved procedures.
What you ll do
Portfolio Management
- Develop a portfolio of 100+ prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations capable of making a financial impact on the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation with a focus on the west side of the state of Michigan.
- Use a moves management model to strategically leverage prospect research to support gift solicitation strategies to build relationships with prospective donors in anticipation of soliciting major and planned gifts.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals, foundations, and corporations capable of making a financial impact as donors.
Strategic Planning
- In conjunction with the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation s President and CEO, develop and implement short-term and long-range fundraising plans for major and planned gifts elevating support for the needs of older adults.
- Use a moves management model to strategically leverage prospect research to support gift solicitation strategies to build relationships with prospective donors in anticipation of soliciting major and planned gifts.
Relationship Development
- Apply philanthropy's best practice gift planning techniques and ascertain the best combination of current and deferred giving to meet the donor s aspirations and those of UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation.
- Appropriately engage non-development staff, Board members, and volunteers in prospect identification, developing relationship management strategies, the solicitation process, and donor stewardship.
- Ability and willingness to present the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation story with confidence.
- Serve as a UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation liaison to residents, staff, and churches as needed.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis, and a calm environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of all UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation information.
Leadership
- Utilize performance metrics and associated reporting requirements to guide and track fundraising goals (Blackbaud, NXT) and donor records accurately and promptly.
- Provide leadership, as appropriate, for programs and events.
- Embrace the faith-based mission and guiding beliefs of Brio Living Services corporate entity and the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation and model the leadership competencies and service quality standards.
