**Position Summary**
Mt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center is looking for a female applicant to serve as Head Cook for its all-girls Christian Summer Camp program. Reporting to the Camp Director, you will further the mission of Mt. Gilead Summer Camp by preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our summer staff and campers. The Head Cook will also be responsible for the supervision of the summer kitchen crew.

Nestled in the heart of the Pennsylvania Poconos, Mt. Gilead has provided an exceptional Christian girls summer camp program for more than 60 years. Campers play, learn, and grow while participating in archery, swimming, riflery, drama, horsemanship, and canoeing to name just a few! In a warm and friendly atmosphere, staff focus on loving girls to Christ and helping them to develop a dynamic relationship with Him. Meals are served family-style, with praise and worship singing, campfires, fun camp traditions, off-the-wall silly songs, games, and activities all enhancing, the experiences of making new friends and enjoying Christian fellowship. The heart of Mt. Gilead is our Lord, and His praise is incorporated into every area of the camping program. Here, girls mature and grow in Him, and they make friends and memories that will last a lifetime!
General:
- Cares for the needs of counselors and campers regarding food preparation and delivery
- Cooperates with other staff members throughout the kitchen
- Keeps accurate food storage records and reports as required.
- Positively represents Christ and Mt Gilead in interactions with parents, campers and visitors.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Responsibilities-
-Must be willing to take charge and be responsible for food safety and other employees..- Engage positively, encouragingly with all campers and guests.
- Prepare all meals and snacks as scheduled and instructed according to pre-planned menus and established mealtimes. Be available to work weekends, weekdays, and nights.
- Assist the Summer Camp Directors in creating appropriate menus using recipes for consistency, cost control, and appealing servings, avoiding unnecessary waste.
- Clean, sanitize, and inspect all areas maintained by the kitchen staff daily, as needed, to exceed Pennsylvania Board of Health standards.
- Assist as directed for inventories and food and supplies orders.
- Support and direct kitchen staff in the preparation and cleaning of breakfast, lunch, and dinner set-ups and breakdowns utilizing on-site guidelines and resources.

- Willingness to prepare alternative menu items for allergies and vegetarians
- Appropriate health and safety training
- Patience with staff unfamiliar with cooking/working in a kitchen
- Willingness to share knowledge and skills with others
- Ability to make the Dining Hall FUN for all campers!
