Key Business Objectives:


The Supply Chain Inventory Manager is responsible for analyzing the part and equipment inventory levels across the company and recommending strategies to balance supply, reduce costs, and minimize stockout and obsolescence. This position will report to Operations and work across the organization with procurement, operations support, accounting, IT, to maintain and drive best practices, and develop the processes and discipline required for optimal inventory and serialized component management. The ideal candidate will have a drive for implementing best practices, problem solving, and a desire to help transform the business using their skills and expertise. This position is based in Houston, TX.


 


Duties and Responsibilities:


Global Parts Strategy Assessment Related to:



  • Inventory management for company’s parts/ materials inventory.

  • Control of inventory and planning effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.

  • Management and maintenance of the corporate-wide Inventory Management System.

  • Management procedures for core and warranty eligible parts which are returned from the field

  • Continuous improvement of inventory management processes at the corporate level and across operating regions in the field.


Analytics:



  • Identify key supply chain elements, including production, supply, inventory, location, transportation, and cost drivers to facilitate successful negotiations with vendors.

  • Leverage operations and work order history data to assess and forecast demand/optimal stocking and replenishment levels.

  • Assess operation locations and advise on optimal locations for warehouses and supply routes. 

  • Analyze consumption data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement. 

  • Establish metrics to validate stock and manage inventory utilization. 

  • Develop and implement inventory audits and assessment programs. 

  • Perform deep dive into existing inventory system and make recommendations for improvement.


Collaboration:



  • Collaborate with regional supply managers to drive process improvements and optimize the purchase and utilization of inventory, materials, equipment, and supplies.

  • Collaborate with operations management to enable and optimize efficiency in the supply of materials required for daily field operations. 

  • Collaborate with operations support teams and share expertise to help with company-wide enterprise transformation.

  • Collaborate with the IT and Accounting groups to help ensure inventory is being accurately tracked and accounted for.

  • Work with Supply Chain as they negotiate supplier order quantities, pricing, and lead times.


Other:



  • Assist in training others on proper processes for inventory procurement and consumption in the system.

  • Monitor adherence to policies for inventory procurement and consumption.

  • Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Full-time salaried position.



     


    Skills/Capabilities and Education:



    • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or economics from an accredited university or 12 years of experience working in supply chain management or inventory management.

    • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably direct experience in compression services or similar energy or industrial business with distributed supply chains and field workforce.

    • Direct experience and expert knowledge in inventory/warehouse management, materials planning, logistics, and negotiations.

    • Professional and effective communication skills, written and verbal.

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.

    • Proven track record of analyzing data and leveraging information to make recommendations.

    • Experience in collaborative organizations and adept at conflict management.

    • Experience working with individuals across all organizational levels.

    • Proven track record of organizational effectiveness, inventory optimization, and operations management.

    • Excel; intermediate to advanced Excel skills required to analyze data and report findings.

    • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.

    • Supply chain experience required.

    • Strong business acumen and influencing skills.

    • Certifications preferred: Lean Six Sigma, APICS.

    • Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.

    • Applicant must have the ability to legally work in the U.S.



       


      Working Conditions:



      • Dynamic, fast-paced, demanding office environment.

      • The incumbent spends most of the time sitting or standing in a comfortable position with ample opportunity to move about.

      • Periodic lifting requirements of up to 25 lbs.

      • Travel is required and is expected to be approximately 20-30% of the time worked.

      • Working conditions in natural gas compression vary from one job site to another.  Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside, exposed to a variety of weather conditions.  The work environment may be in hazardous locations.  There is a strong emphasis on safety while working with heavy equipment and machinery.
