PROGRAM:                             Culture Language Arts Network (CLAN)


Technology Assisted Language Keeps (TALK)


HOURS:                                   Full-time, 40 hours/week


SCHEDULE:                              Flexible/varied some days, evenings and weekends


SALARY:                                  $48,000 per year, benefits eligible


The Culture Language Arts Network (CLAN) Technology Assisted Language Keepers (TALK) is a program that strengthens community coordination to increase interest in learning Native languages (Ojibwe & Dakota) and expands Native language learning opportunities.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coordinator and utilize resources of curriculum that is suitable for Introductory and Intermediate Dakota classes

  • Coordinate with language consultant/s weekly for Introductory and Intermediate Dakota classes for youth and adults

  • Work with staff, consultants and partnering agencies to coordinate cultural community language infused activities and events

  • Work with Native youth and technology to create and complete language projects

  • Participate in Advisory Council meetings

  • Work with language instructional team to develop language learner assessment strategies and tools for tracking development of proficiency and implements

  • Assist in developing flyers and other methods of advertising for classes, activities and events

  • Attend staff meetings

  • Attend grantee meetings and orientations as program budget permits

  • Meet all grant requirements according to work plan

  • Various other duties as assigned by Program Director


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • BA in American Indian Studies or related field or comparable work experience

  • Familiar with Dakota language, written and verbal skills

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom and other technology Possess excellent motivational and communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task, demonstrate initiative and have a strong work ethic

  • Knowledge and understanding of American Indian culture and community

  • Must pass criminal background check

  • No current drug/alcohol/substance abuse related problems

  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license and proof of current insurance is favorable
