Position Summary

The Quality Operations Specialist is responsible for performing detailed Corrective Action Program investigations and analyses using established formal causal evaluation methods and tools. Collaborates with departments within or across lines of business to develop effective corrective action plans for identified issues. Provides analyses and reporting of adverse trends. Develops quality management systems and plans for process improvement to ensure quality assurance and quality control measures are implemented. Evaluate the effectiveness of and recommend improvements in business processes, practices, and procedures. Identifies and communicates opportunities for systemic improvement.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $132,000

Bay Area Maximum: $226,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $125,000

California Maximum: $215,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office, and your assigned location based on business need. Headquarter location is flexible within PG&E service territory, however, either the Sacramento or Oakland office locations are preferred. Beginning in June, this position will be expected to work in the office one day per week.

Responsibilities:

Corrective Action Program (CAP):

  • Serves as a company-wide subject matter expert on CAP and Root Cause Analysis
  • Independently works on the highest complexity and impact issues that have a significant enterprise-wide risk.
  • Coach stakeholders to develop appropriate corrective action plans that contain effective solutions for causes of issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop strategy and action plans working with Directors and Officers
  • Develop and review company-wide training materials for CAP.
  • Deliver training to CAP specialists.
  • Review failure data, perform trend analysis, and make recommendations to improve system performance, applying broad company and industry knowledge.

Standards Development and Process Improvement:

  • Develop company-wide standards and processes, lead implementation and governance of standards and processes based on internal and external benchmarking.
  • Train and mentor other CAP personnel
  • Develop reports and metrics to assist in monitoring and evaluation of the success of CAP and root cause analysis systems, processes, and initiatives.

Other:

  • Coach and provide direction to less experienced team members.
  • Works with directors and managers across organizations to provide expert opinions and influence decisions.
  • Manages matrix resources and allocates assignments as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • Causal evaluation certification, i.e., Conger/Elsie, Tonex, Cocrane(Firebird), Apollo, ASQ, Taproot, ISO9000, Sologic, etc. Knowledge of the core tools, e.g., Barrier analysis, Fault tree, etc.
  • Ten years of progressive experience in utility operations or in other highly regulated industry
  • Four years of experience with causal evaluation methods and investigations in the utility industry.
  • Ability to travel to support investigations and participate in team meetings.

Desired:

  • Master's degree.
  • Two years in a utility operations supervisory position.
  • Experience with nuclear corrective action programs and causal evaluations.
  • Experience with business process reengineering.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and corrective action programs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma processes.
  • Ability to influence all levels, including senior management.
  • Ability to interview personnel of all levels during incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of work methods and procedures to accurately identify risks and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and be effective in team settings.
  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Root Cause Analysis software (e.g., to document barrier analysis, fault tree analysis, etc.).
  • leadership or facilitation training, i.e., crucial conversations and facilitative leadership.
