Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of Certified Pharmacy Technicians that conduct prior authorization reviews for Medicaid, Medicare and commercial business
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage during normal business, weekend, and holiday hours
  • Train and guide development of new and existing staff
  • Ensure staff is informed and properly oriented on policies, procedures, and processing of prior authorizations
  • Conduct candidate interviews for open Prior Authorization Technician positions
  • Ensure Prior Authorization Technician staff is informed and properly oriented on policies, procedures, and processing of prior authorizations, including reviews of high cost and specialty medications
  • Ensure Prior Authorization Technician staff adhere to internal and regulatory requirements such as 24-hour turnaround times
  • Regularly perform audits of prior authorization reviews
  • Write and administer/deliver performance reviews to direct reports
  • Work collaboratively with other management staff to review and update departmental policies and business requirements documents
  • Enforces corporate and departmental policies

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Active Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification (NHA or PTCB) required
  • Minimum one (1) year of current/recent managed care experience required
  • Minimum three (3) years of current/recent professional pharmacy experience required
