Executive Assistant - $25/Hour Part Time

The Fig Cooking School is looking for a hardworking and self-motivated person with administrative and strong interpersonal skills to work with us part time. Your tasks will vary day-to-day, but will include various tasks including answering emails, phone calls, organization, invoicing, filing, and printing menus. Having a computer is a must, since almost all of the work can be done from your home, with the exception of printing and organizing files and paperwork at the cooking school.

We are a recreational cooking school located in Milford, CT. We offer classes, team building events, and dinners several nights a week. Our menus are inspired by food all over the world, and you ll learn a lot working with us. Work at Fig is intense, but extremely positive and rewarding, and we always have a great time together.

While we will try to make your schedule as regular as possible, the nature of our business is that things often come up and change at the last minute. We often need help on a moment s notice so flexibility is essential.

Our team is small, so members must always seek to do their job more efficiently, and be willing to spot another team member if they re overwhelmed. You must also always be positive and flexible about the tasks assigned to you.

• People Skills

You ll also be answering emails, returning phone calls , and helping guests book classes/deal with customer service issues. You must be warm, welcoming, and outgoing. When/if there is ever a disagreement between you and a guest, it s essential that you maintain a calm, positive attitude and not get defensive. You must have clear written communication skills, including attention to detail when it comes to grammar and spelling. You must assume the best of your coworkers and guests.

• Organization

We have hundreds of guests and dozens of menus to attend to at any given time. Being well organized is essential to this position.

• Ability to Listen + Willingness to Learn

We have a very specific way we like our ur systems to run. We will always teach you what you need to know, but you need to be able to understand, respect, and remember what we tell you. We are of course open to hearing new ideas, but we expect that when an instruction is given, it will be followed as directed.

• Positive Attitude

We spend a lot of time together, so there s no room for complaining, negativity or drama of any kind.

• Reliability

You have to show up when you say you re going to show up or complete the tasks given in a timely manner.

• Covid Vaccination Required

Candidates must be fully vaccinated (both shots of Pfizer and Moderna, OR one shot for Johnson and Johnson plus one shot of either Pfizer or Moderna) and show proof of vaccination in order to be considered. Boosters are also encouraged.

• Transportation + Location

Reliable transportation is a must. Living nearby is a plus.

Small changes make a big difference towards making our the csooking school run well, and giving our guests a positive experience.
