Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Auditor

Overview:

The Inpatient Production Auditor role necessitates that you diligently scrutinize inpatient cases and review medical records meticulously while holding yourself to excellent organizational standards and a high level of attention to detail. You will be integral in providing analytical expertise for the validation process and tasked with evaluating claim reimbursement potential through coding assignments. A flexible and detail-oriented approach is key to thriving in this job.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The audit process for inpatient cases entails reviewing medical documentation, identifying any discrepancies, and making adjustments to the DRG assignments as required
• Validate DRG coding by closely reviewing documentation and diagnoses for each individual case
• Rationale: A finding from customer feedback suggests that the company’s customer service could be improved. It is recommended that the company invest in additional customer service resources and training to increase satisfaction and loyalty. Supporting evidence includes studies showing that customers are more likely to stay loyal to a company that provides excellent customer service and that those customers are more likely to refer others to the company
• To ensure the accuracy of their evaluations, evaluators must reference established sources in the sector. Recognized references consist of the AHIMA Standards of Ethical Coding, AHIMA Practice Briefings pertaining to compliant querying, AHA Coding Clinics, and the ICD-10 Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
• Proper coding assignment ensures that claims are eligible for reimbursement

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• The possession of AHIMA credentials is a prerequisite for consideration for the job opportunities currently available

• Ability to communicate effectively in both speech and writing
• Familiarity with multiple EMR systems, such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech, enables healthcare providers to adapt to different environments and patient populations
• Demonstrating impressive computer skills and prowess in the usage of Microsoft Suite. Past experience in utilizing Microsoft Access is an asset that is highly regarded
• The capacity to manage workflow, discern essential tasks, and meet targets is a must-have competency

A US-based employee in this role can expect a pay range of $38,487.87 to $64,381.00. The final salary may vary based on job-related skills, educational qualifications, job position, location, and level of experience.
