Position Summary
The Senior Manager Brand Management position is a critical leadership role for Yankee Candle with P&L responsibility. The role oversees leadership of the marketing function including marketing strategies, annual plans, consumer insights driven innovation, brand communications, go-to-market activation, media, brand equity, and design for omnichannel. The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of brand management and innovation leadership experience combined with proven ability to drive omnichannel growth in multiple sales channels.


Key Responsibilities
Assist leadership in building the annual brand plans by supporting with data, insights and reporting to help understand business performance and formulate actions for improvement.
Lead initiatives that impact the Home Fragrance P&L statement and develop financial management skills.
Demonstrated evidence of translating business priorities into brand objectives, strategies and plans. Understand how to effectively inspire and delight consumers through product performance, pricing and positioning.
Lead market share and business reporting. Leverage all Newell data sources to understand brand health, identify winning and losing propositions quickly and make recommendations for initiatives to grow the business.
Strong cross functional leadership and proven success leading projects and delivering on time.
Understanding of the eCommerce channel and ability to support media mix and assortment recommendations.
Identify new product ideas, write concepts and champion innovation projects from idea to execution.
Prior P&L management experience including complexity reduction, launching innovation to drive revenue and managing for margin growth
Develop omnichannel strategic plan identifying where to play and how to win. Design appropriate product assortments per channel with compelling key feature/benefit claims and partner with center marketing team to build winning assortments, SEO strategies, best in class PDPs, etc.
Demonstrated success leveraging analytics to identify business growth opportunities and translating this into revenue or market share improvement. Able to teach, mentor and grow junior marketers in their ability to leverage data for decision making.
Work across the business units with all key functions Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Distribution, Customer Service, IT, Finance, HR, Legal as well as centralized support teams to drive profitable sales for the Food brands.
Establishes clear objectives for brand communication and a vision for short and long- term success.
Participates in annual brand planning process to set a fully integrated marketing plan and programming utilizing the full marketing mix of advertising, promotions, and trade.
Accountable for delivering marketing objectives and strategies for the upcoming year. Executes brand communications across brands, countries and regions with purposeful differentiation and reapplication based on portfolio and category strategies.
Participates in briefing agencies and/or internal teams on communication objectives, advertising and media plans. Works with digital and operations teams to monitor agency execution of specific tactics.
Based on brand communication objectives, develops clear and compelling claims that reinforce positioning and strengthen brand proposition vs substitutes.
Measures and evaluates communication / claims performance and then optimizes to improve effectiveness, stay on trend, and remain differentiated from competitors.
Lead a team of marketers, train them succeed and help translate business needs into workstreams for the team.


Required Experience/Qualifications
A four-year college degree, MBA preferred.
8+ years of brand management experience including deep marketing, innovation and general management experience.
Proven ability in talent management; Ability to attract and retain top talent; Prior experience leading people and coaching for continued growth and success
Industry experience in CPG and hardlines, with proven ability to be successful with both.
Prior demonstration of behaving as a Servant Leader of being a brand steward, building and implementing brand architecture and driving brand value across all consumer channels.
Classical brand builder with strong digital marketing skills (DTC, eCommerce, Retailer Media Networks)
Deep experience gleaning consumer insights and leveraging analytics of primary and secondary research, emerging trends, POS results and competitor/category actions to drive leadership brand sales.
Proven success leading as a servant leader, seeking the input of the team while guiding everyone to be better at what they do and how they perform.
Key leadership traits include empathy, integrity, accountability, resilience, vision, creativity and positivity.


The Connecticut base pay range for this position is from $135,000 to $165,000. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
